A glorious garden for the centuries

Respect for a vision many years in the making is evident in this quintessential Mount Eliza landscaped garden.

Framed by wisteria, this gum tree adds another layer of seasonal texture to the garden as it sheds it’s bark and changes colour from green to sunset pink over the warmer months.

When Geraldine and Peter stumbled across this Old Mount Eliza home on the Golden Mile, they were immediately seduced by the towering gum and Moreton Bay Fig that dominated the front garden.

“You can’t plant old trees,” begins Geraldine, “It’s not as easy as a coat of paint. These trees are older than us and they’ll be here long after we’re all gone.”

The 4-bedroom house and it’s spectacular garden is currently listed for sale with RT Edgar Mount Eliza. Whilst the home itself has been renovated to an exacting standard of effortless luxury, it’s the garden that elevates the property to a Mount Eliza classic.

The seasonal changes, plenty of water and sunshine, predispose those with a green thumb to create and maintain some of the most beautiful gardens in the world in our part of the world. It’s no surprise that according to the August 2019 Houzz & Home Renovation Trends study, 59% of renovations are spent on outdoor projects. The exceptional character of this quintessential Mount Eliza garden needed only some gentle guidance under this pair of expert hands.

“There are so many colours in this garden, it was just a matter of cleaning it up a bit.” Peter explains of what was a neglected garden. Loquats and citrus surprise with punchy yellows through a lush patina of greens that span virtual Pantone colour swatch from lime to a deep forest green.

Crazy paving on the fireplace at the front of the home is framed by wisteria whilst a shady Sycamore overlooks the striking outdoor living area around the pool, where oranges, lemons and rosemary complement the scent of multi-hued natives.

The entire garden is irrigated, including the golfing green lush lawn installed as part of the three year renovation project with a handy shed for outdoor work. Indeed, with the majority of work undertaken already to restore the garden to its current state, there’s little to do but enjoy the hard work already undertaken.
